Delivery

All deliveries are carried out by the John McCarthy Carpet & Furniture Centre delivery team. If the item is in stock, we aim to deliver within one to two weeks from purchase. A member of our sales staff will be in touch with you the day before the delivery is planned. Our policy is to give you an AM or PM time slot, however, due to circumstances outside our control such as traffic and bad weather we may not always be able to meet this time slot. If, due to circumstances outside of our control, delivery might be delayed, we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss a new delivery time. Please ensure you provide us with a contact number that we can reach you on during the planned delivery day, and that someone is present to accept the delivery. If we cannot reach you on the planned delivery day, or if no one is present to accept the delivery, we cannot guarantee delivery on that day.

It is possible to have us take away an old item that is being replaced, at an additional charge. Please notify us at the time of purchase and we will discuss the extra charge with you. Please note that if we have not been notified by you in advance, the delivery team cannot take away the old item.

Pile Reversal in pile yarn carpets

All pile yarn carpets are subject to pile reversal which is most likely to be seen in smooth surfaces, densely constructed plush type qualities. This occurrence is difficult to predict or prevent. Pile Reversal creates a permanent change in the carpets’ appearance caused by difference in the way light reflects off the sides and tip of a yarn as the pile lays in different directions.
Shaded areas appear light from one direction and dark from the opposite direction. After a period of use the carpet may look as though water has spilled on some areas of the carpet hence the term “water marking”. This can also be described as “pooling”,” shading”, “highlighting”.
Pile reversal is not a manufacturing defect and does not affect the durability of the carpet. It is not due to the materials used to produce the carpet, the manufacturing process, or any combination of these factors. Watermarking or shading may develop on a carpet made with any fibres or manufacturing process. Once the condition has developed it cannot be permanently removed.
